Electrodes 450mm long with 4mm pins for ActEle1 connection

Electrodes 450mm long with 4mm pins for ActEle1 connection

  • Price: Price on application

These stainless steel rod electrodes are standard for conventional ERT survey in profiles or even grids (for 3D). They have a T-piece welded across the top with a 4mm pin attached so that the ActEle1 boxes can be connected straight on. Typically for an ERT survey with 3 16-electrode cables, 16+16+16+1 of these electrodes will be used along with a carry box and single hand hammer. In some circumstances a backpack water strayer will be used with them too to reduce contact resistance.

Electrodes are damaged by violent use in hard ground. Some get bent. Most end up with the 4mm gold plated pins losing their spring surrounds. In this situation we resort to running a 4mm lead from the ActEle box to the electrode using the 4mm hole in the T-piece or an alligator connector to make connection. Occasionally we go through and replace all the damaged 4mm pins.

If anyone wants to fund us – we have a shelved design, discussed with Erich Lippmann, for injection moulding, over-moulding and assembling an alternative to both the electrodes and the ActEle1 cases that solves these problems and increases setup efficiency and life of cables. As of January 2025, it has been impossible for us to finish funding this manufacturing project.
