NSW Water Non-Urban Metering
NSW non-urban metering
In NSW, all licenced water take of any magnitude requires telemetered metering complying with government regulation but installed and paid for by farmers who are expected to make all the decisions about what complying equipment they install. In 2025 there is a program whereby the telemetering of NSW water bore supplies will be orgnised and conducted by government should landowners approve. In Queensland the telemetry component is always government installed and funded.
- We offer telemeterization and validation of NSW government non-urban metering. Meter installation can be arranged too but is often a considerable and expensive process. In NSW bulky, expensive electromagnetic flow meters are the best solution on large pipes but in Queensland, simple small ultrasonic meters from MACE can be used due to different compliance rules.
- On most meters we have installed Halytech flow meter telemetry but the market changes and options change in competitiveness. For instance, on Aquamonix meters, approved telemetry can now be integrated into the meter itself.
- The flowmeters need to be tailored to circumstances at each site and come from third parties and can cost from $800 to tens of $1000’s. On Farm Connectivity Program (OFCP) rebates will depend on eligibility sought by the suppliers (BUT round 2 sold out in 4 days and no more rounds are funded or proposed).
- Installation costs will typically far exceed OFCP 20% allowance.
- Based in Dubbo, we are likely to be competitive in the Macquarie, Lachlan and Hunter River valleys and will be inclined to refer metering work in other areas to other installers due to the travel cost of ongoing maintenance and repair visits.
