Software
Groundwater Imaging Software
'ResImage' is a package that encompasses almost all of our processing software, written by Dr David Allen.
'TEM Configurator' is a free cut down version of ResImage. It allows for forward modelling and system configuration definition.
'AgTEM' is the operational software for AgTEM electronics and is written by our electronics provider.
'GeoTest', from a 3rd party - written by Dr Armin Rauen, is operational software for the Lippmann Earth Resistivity Meter used in HERBI, Wombat and our buried-cable time-lapse ERT.
Dashboards for telemetered sensors are written by us and hosted in a cloud based platform called 'Sensori'.
Seepage estimation from water storage water balance and telemetered sensors is achieved using non-released software written by Dr David Allen.
Other capabilities include differential GNSS postprocessing to provide centimetre precision GNSS positions, data aquisition and graphical presentation programming in Delphi and other languages.
ResImage
ResImage is processing software for both towed Transient Electromagnetic and towed Direct Current Electrical Resistivity tomography datasets. It also handles full waveform sonar datasets and the integration of all these datasets together. For towed TEM datasets, it works as a data preparer for Aarhus Workbench which performs 1-D layered earth modelling and spatially constrained inversion. For towed geo-electric streamer datasets and Wombat soil resistivity profile datasets it uses internal 1D modelling and inversion code derived from David Allen's PhD Thesis.
ResImage Version 0.00.00 was released on the 6th november 2024, including code written Dr David Allen since he began his PhD thesis in 2002.
ResImage is available with a Demo Licence with a limit of 300 soundings in some functions and some other limitations including lack of permission for commercial use. If the product is registered to obtain a Commercial version then files generated will display the Registrant by default, restrictions will be removed, and the number of soundings supported will be effectively unlimited.
Relevant ResImage licences are supplied to purchasers of our towed acquisition equipment and to anyone who successfully negotiates with us.
ResImage is written principally in Delphi.

We have no funding for this project and rely entirely on donations and our own savings to write this software. We understand that your first investment will need to be in your own time and effort evaluating and learning this product so we try not to charge you until you have had a go using the product. You can do a lot with the Demo Version and if this extends to succesful commercial use or for some other reason you wish to donate rather than negotiating with us to pay for registration then please use the PayPal link provided for donating for TEM Configurator below. If you purchase Wallaby, Wallaroo, AgTEM-electronics, Wombat or a HERBI-USV we intend to provide you with a licenced registered copy of ResImage and email support.
ResImage will store documentation, the licence file and sample files in C:\GWI\ResImage\*.* but the program file will be stored in C:\Program Files (x86)\GWI\ResImage\TEMConfigurator\*.* . Note that ResImage shares files with TEMConfigurator so uninstalling one will affect the other.
TEM Configurator
TEM Configurator is as the name suggests, a graphical user interface for observing, checking and configuring TEM metadata. It includes facilities for making type curve sets of forward models using AarhusInv64.exe (for which an indpeendent licence must be obtained from Seequent). It is code that is encompased within ResImage but is also accessible as free split off code titled 'TEMConfigurator'.
Access slides for a 15 minute presentation on TEM Configurator here: ASEG_Hobart_15minPresentation_Allen_TEMConfigurator.pdf
An Extended Abstract on TEM COnfigurator was published in 2024 available here: ASEG_2024_TEMConfiguratorWallabyWallaroo_ExtendedAbstract_ID004.pdf
The manual and tutorials for TEM Configurator are packaged into the installer below but are also available here: TEMConfigurator_2_00_October2024_Manual_Tutorials.pdf
Access TEMConfigurator installer here: TEMConfiguratorSetupV2_00.exe
Instructions are inlcuded in this download and are accessible once it has been installed.
TEMConfigurator will store documentation and sample files in C:\GWI\ResImage\TEMConfigurator\*.* but the program file and open source delphi code will be stored in C:\Program Files (x86)\GWI\ResImage\TEMConfigurator\*.* . Note that ResImage shares files with TEMConfigurator so uninstalling one will affect the other.
Donations for use of TEM Configurator are sought. We have no funding for this project and rely entirely on donations and our own savings to write this software. We understand that your first investment will need to be in your own time and effort evaluating and learning this product, and possibly in purchase of AarhusInv64.exe from Seequent (not associated with us) if you do not already have this as part of Aarhus Workbench or as part of an educational arrangment. We expect that should you then be using it to help quote for jobs accurately and robustly, or for presenting educational courses for which there is remuneration, then a donation will be provided. To make this easier we supply a PayPal link below:

AgTEM
AgTEM is the operational software for the AgTEM electronics. It is made by our electronics provider and is only useful, and available with purchase of our electronics.
AgTEM is written in C++
GeoTest
GeoTest is 3rd party software from Dr Armin Rauen that we use for acquisition of towed waterborne (HERBI) data, Wombat data, hand laid cable and electrode Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) data and other datasets we collect with the Lippmann Earth Resistivity Meter.
Geotest is written in Delphi.
Until 2025 access GeoTest from https://www.geophysik-dr-rauen.de/E_Index/E_geot_geotest/e_geot_geotest.htm
From 2025 Armin Rauen is handing over GeoTest management to Arne Schwab and it will then be accessed from https://www.schwartech.de/index_en.html#/_en
Dashboards for telemetered sensors
We install telemetered moisture, water level, weather and other sensors using YDOC loggers. This is usually for either seepage estimation or groundwater recharge monitoring. Data from these sensors is stored in the cloud managed by and accessed through Sensori. We write Dashboards in Sensori (a non-code based dashboard writing interface). See Sensori.cloud
Seepage estimation and other software
Groundwater Imaging continue to write software and have unpublished code in use for projects such as quantifying seepage from water reservoirs using water balance.
Current prospects include:
1. Publishing Seepage monitoring dashboard facility for sensors telemetered on water reservoirs. As seepage is notoriaously difficult to measure, this is not a straight forward task conducted well by off the shelf products such as Sensori alone.
2. Floodplain Harvesting gauge board measurement documentation management - phone app for farmers to use to independently comply with government metering requirements in a robust way.
3. Soil Drillers sample logging software using macroscopic photography using a slip-over lense for phone cameras and managed a mobile phone app.
4. Gamma Ray Spectrometry of drill core - integrated with core scanning hardware.
5. Wrapping of additional sources of TEM forward modelling and inversion code.
6. Enhancement of the Wombat processing and hardware into a multi-parameter soil profile analysis system with real time resistivity modelling.
7. Enhancement of Full Waveform Sonar processing to estimate sludge thickness better.
8. Detailed precision waterway survey in long section and cross sections with hydrologic parameters using HERBI-USV, scanning sonar, tilt sensors, precision GNSS and scanning LIDAR.
Make an enquiry if you are interested in seeking, contributing to funding for, or hastening delivery of seepage estimation or other unpublished software.
