EM38-4 One-wheel trailer
- Price: Price on application
The EM38 or EM38-4 or DualEM1 can be walked along or towed by a quadbike using our non-metallic One-Wheeled Trailer which has a centre of gravity situated such that it remains upright even though it has only one solid wheel. This design both prevents rough side-to-side tilting inherent in short axle two-wheeled trailers and keeps the sensor a constant small distance above the ground – an essential requirement for any useful modelling of layers from EM38-4 or DualEM1H data. The trailer disassembles and packs compactly. If one wants real shallow resolution of soil layers, then this attention to height of instrument and tilting prevention is important.
The second photo presents a more rudimentary rope-towed sled that might seem rough and ad-hoc however it does have all the properties needed for successful EM38 survey including endurance and has covered many thousands of kilometres. We also use conveyor belt rubber sleds but can confirm that their ground friction is frustrating.
