The Geonics EM38 bulk soil Electrical Conductivity meter is a 1m long frequency domain electromagnetic mapping tool used in conjunction with a logger and GNSS receiver. It can be hand carried as shown, towed in a sled behind a quadbike, mounted to farm machinery with innovative design, or rolled along in a single wheeled walked trailer. This device has been around for many decades, early versions being hand made of wood.

We own one EM38 and operate it on a walked or quadbike towed cart. It can be rented if we believe operators will be competent and carful.

Geonics suspended trading in 2026 and by July 2026 their position was still uncertain. For new purchases, DualEM are recommended. We are willing to set DualEM products up in high efficacy towing arrangments in our Dubbo fibreglass fabrication facility and to equip with telemetry for remote monitoring and processing. In this way they can be fitted to farm vectors such as robotic sprayers and traveling irrigators for repeat pass survey able to resovle changes in soil moisture profile.
