Gravity

Gravity is useful in groundwater investigation for discovering depth to basement in unconsolidated sediment basins. Faults affecting the basins and groundwater connectivity within the basins show up in detailed gravity data.

Gravity is used to find contrasts in density of geological formations. Records are taken kneeling down on the ground using a weight on a spring with a lot of damping. Precision corrections for earth tides, instrument drift, and elevation are applied so it needs to be collected with precision GNSS data such as is acquired with our UBlox F9P dual frequency receiver, CORS bases and postprocessing.
