We conduct most of our HERBI surveys with a box trailer fitted with elevated racks that hold a boat upright and equipped for survey. A hoist on the rear trailer corner with electric winch and extender arm and extra bracing under the trailer is used to swing the boat out over the water and lower it in. This is because we are not doing recreational boating were there is always a boat ramp supplied. On some reservoirs with low water the boat is lowered onto mud and dragged down into the water then electrically winched back out.

The hoist has been an invaluable part of most HERBI operations that use a manned boat.
